How is the weather like during that time of the year? will it be wet? does the San Diego Zoo, Wild Park, and Sea World open during Christmas Day, since I’m taking an early flight there, i would like to visit one of those attractions…

cool expect daytime temps in the 50′s to 60′s and lows around 40 at night, but it could be warmer.

Today took me all over the county – from La Mesa to Point Loma to Del Mar to Mira Mesa. The worst area, smoke-wise, was Del Mar. Though we did have ash for the first time on our cars in Rolando Park (near San Diego State) this AM. I was volunteering with ARTS to bring art to the kids that have been evacuated. We went to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, first. They didn’t have too many kids, so only part of our contingent stayed there. The rest of us went to Mira Mesa High School. We found plenty of people and kids there. We stayed for a couple of hours. The kids were great and really seemed to enjoy it. The most popular activity was painting. It was awesome to be out in the community giving something back. The mood was relatively upbeat. There were more than enough supplies – water, airbeds, food, cots, tents, everything it seemed. People were pushing around ice filled coolers with beverages and offering us something cold to drink. There was a guy playing a mean soprano saxophone the whole time we were there – he was excellent. It definitely helped keep the mood up. There were LOTS of pets and pet carriers. That was the hardest for me to see because I know they don’t understand what’s going on. It was a remarkable day.

Hi Vanessa, take a look at these hotels in La Jolla (a great beach-side neighborhood in San Diego) that include complimentary breakfast and are ranked by our user rating system. Have a great time in California!
